Heading South

Time sure has flown by. Got in the last ride in this morning before packing the bike ready for the flight to Invercargill tomorrow. It was time to reflect on the amount of time I had spent on the saddle.. I'm pretty sure I should be ok. Certainly everybody has stepped up and looking a little leaner and stronger. Ive lost a good 8kgs since about this time last year...that's supposed to make it easier riding up hills...yeah right.
I would like to thank all of our sponsors. Special thanks to Ian at the House of Travel. He has done a fantastic job in getting us our accommodation through out the country. Thanks again to Blue bridge, Kiwi Velo, Ascot Park Motel, Big FM, Balance, Mother Nature's, Quadrant, On Fire Design and Sail City Signs.
To Carol and Gaynor at the Nth Shore Hospice, thanks so much for all of your support and help and thanks to Rebecca from Eleven PR. Lets hope we can reach our target.
So its off to Invercargill tomorrow,
Thanks for reading,
Steve.

Final few days....

Check out the Garmin link below for todays ride. ....Everyone turned out on our final bunch ride except for Tod who had a leave pass after just completing the Wellington to Auckland race. We had a couple of guest appearance's. Mike missed his bunch ride so had a easy spin with us after the Rev120 the day before. Dave and Nick turned up fine tuning for Northland. So with a straight forward ride with no hiccups today, everybody is ready to go .
On Friday the support vehicle was shipped off to Invercargill ..... So hopefully that arrives down there all aok.
All of the bikes have been serviced. The riders are all set to go . It's just a matter of the final few loose ends. Myself and Ange arrive in Invercargill on Sunday 28th together with Tod and Brian. The following day Kim, Shane, Al and Geoff arrive .
Thats all for now,
Steve.

Getting there...

With only 2 weeks to go, training has been going well. Had another good week of training with a 100km ride with Al and Geoff on Saturday and Sunday a 5hr ride ...in the rain . Rode with Kim and Brian and covered 130k. Had an uneventful ride, no road rage, no punctures..all good.
Planning for the trip is coming along. We ship Ruth and Kims Nissan "Mistral" to Invercargill on Friday. This will be used to carry all of our gear each day. All the accomodation is just about sorted. We have been vey fortunate with help from some sponsors. Thanks to "Blue Bridge" for taking care of the vehicle and the riders when we head north across Cooks Straight. Thanks also to "Balance" the endurance bike fuel suppliers for keeping us fueled up.
So its just a matter of connecting all of the loose ends now. I'm looking forward to an easier week of training this week. I have been going pretty solid for awhile now so it will be a real treat to sleep in a few days this week.
Thats all for now,
Adios, Steve
